Alabama just hasn't been the same since Nick Saban retired. The Crimson Tide are still one of the top teams in the SEC, but they are no longer feared like they used to be.
They however still thinks they're the talk of the town like they were with Saban. Everyone else knows that isn't the case anymore, but for whatever reason their team still thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread.
“We don’t care if they’re asleep or awake,” Alabama wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams said via x.com. “We’re going to make them stand up.”
Last year Georgia proved that Alabama was old news after beating them in the SEC Championship game. That victory however did not shut the Tide up, but they have a chance to put them back in their place again this season.
Alabama WR gave Georgia all the motivation to put the final nail in their coffin
For the third year in a row Georgia will face Alabama in the regular season. This time they will make the trip to Tuscaloosa to play Alabama where very few teams have won. This includes Georgia who is yet to beat the Tide on the road since Kirby Smart became head coach.
They will look to change that this year, and if they do they will put the final nail in Alabama's coffin.
Alabama was the best team in the country for most of Saban's tenure. But in the two years since he retired they have been unable to win the SEC and have been nowhere near the level that Saban regularly had them.
Their dominance is still very recent, so it isn't surprinsing to see their fans or players still think so highly of themselves. But Georgia has bragging rights right now, and if they can win again this season there will be nothing left for them to say.
Georgia has proven they can still have good seasons even when they lose to Alabama. Their first national title under Smart came after losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship game and they still won the SEC the last two years after losing to them in the regular season. But to leave no doubt that Alabama is a thing of the past Georgia needs to win this year to give them no hope of recovering in the future.
