Georgia football is fresh off their most important visit of the transfer portal season as the No. 4 overall transfer in the country Zachariah Branch and his brother Zion were in Athens earlier this week.
The Bulldogs hosting Branch this week is a massive deal because Georgia was the first school to host the talented wide receiver after he entered the portal. Branch is also considered the most electric player in the country, so words can't really express how great his addition to Georgia would be for the Bulldogs.
But anytime a player of his caliber enters the portal, it is a safe assumption that there will be a lot of competition. And that is the case with Branch as he and his brother immediately visited another school after their visit to Athens was complete.
Branch brothers visiting Arizona State
According to Pete Nakos with On3, the Branch brothers are taking their second recruiting trip since entering the portal to Arizona State.
This is an interesting program to visit because Arizona State isn’t the first team you think of as someone who could win a recruitment like this. But there are a lot of positives in the Sun Devils program right now.
For starters, Arizona State just won the Big 12 and are a top four seed in the College Football Playoff just like Georgia, so that will always be attractive. Arizona State also has an elite QB In Sam Leavitt who every wide receiver in the country would likely want to play for. So the fact that the Sun Devils have an elite QB and will be the favorites to win the Big 12 next season and make the CFP again is reason enough for Branch to be interested in them.
But still, Georgia has to feel good about their chances if it’s only between these two programs. It wouldn’t be surprising to see other teams still get involved, but regardless of who else gets involved Georgia was the first team to host the Branch brothers. That will always be an indication that UGA has a great chance to win this recruitment, so hopefully Kirby Smart and his staff are able to get the job done.
