Georgia has to prioritize transfer portal WRs following latest NFL Draft declaration

What was once seen as a strength for last year's Georgia team has quickly become a weakness...

And another one gone... In the extended wake of Georgia losing the Sugar Bowl to Ole Miss, more and more players are either hitting the transfer portal or announcing their intentions of entering the 2026 NFL Draft. Even though he had exhausted all of his eligibility, Dillon Bell announcing his intentions of turning pro makes Georgia's wide receiver room even more unstable. It is losing four contributors...

Bell announced over X on Tuesday that he will be turning pro after a great career playing for Georgia.

Along with Zachariah Branch, Noah Thomas, and Colbie Young, Georgia will need to totally reshape its receiving corps next year. Yes, London Humphreys remains, but that is a lot of talent and production for Kirby Smart and his staff to counterbalance. With wide receiver not being a position of strength for Georgia normally out of high school, one better believe UGA is looking at the transfer portal hard...

Losing all four to the NFL is not the end of the world, but Georgia will need to act fast to rectify all this.

Dillon Bell becomes the latest former Georgia star to enter the NFL Draft

Although Thomas and Young have not officially announced that they are turning pro, it is largely expected. While some wanted Branch to come back to Athens for one more year, that was never in the cards. He projects to be a day-two pick, with an outside shot of cracking the top-32. As for Bell, his versatility on offense could help him carve out a role with an NFL team. It could also backfire a bit.

Bell was a bit of a gadget guy in Athens, although not as explosive as Branch was during his one season with the Dawgs. Thomas is a big body, while Young has the ability to go vertical. Regardless, Bell has a knack for being able to move the sticks whenever and however he has the ball in his hands. Frankly, we are looking at a mid-round pick that could go to any number of teams on day two or three.

Ultimately, Bell checks the box of what every Georgia fan deems to be a Damn Good Dawg. He was receptive to any kind of coaching, a team-first player across the board. It was not always easy for him at Georgia, but he battled, grinded, and made the most of it. Perhaps his grit will give him staying power at the next level? Bell embodies the type of players who are rewarded for being patient at UGA.

Now that he is off to the NFL, Smart and his staff will have to attack the transfer portal ferociously.
