Georgia football's top remaining target at tight end in the 2026 recruiting class is Kaiden Prothro, who is a five-star recruit and No. 3 tight end according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Texas and Florida are Georgia's biggest competitors in his recruitment, and going up against those two schools is challenging enough. UGA's recruitments of other tight ends in the 2026 class however could create some issues as well.
The Bulldogs already hold a commitment from four-star Lincoln Keyes, and all signs point towards fellow four-star tight end Brayden Fogle committing to Georgia on July 4. So this naturally will make Georgia fans wonder if Prothro will be turned off from being the third tight end to commit to Georgia's class.
However, according to Dawg Post insider Matt DeBary, this likely won't prevent Prothro from committing to Georgia.
"Dawg Post continues to hear Georgia sits in an excellent position with elite in-state target," Matt DeBary shared via dawgpost.com. "We’re told a commitment from Fogle would not impact Georgia’s chances with Prothro as the Dawgs have no problem taking three tight ends in this cycle."
Georgia still leads for 5-star Kaiden Prothro regardless
According to the above statement from DeBary, Prothro is still leaning towards Georgia right now with his July 12 commitment date approaching. This will even remain the case if Fogle does commit to Georgia on Friday.
Another big reason why UGA fans shouldn't worry about the growing number of tight end commits is because Prothro can also play wide receiver in college as well. So Georgia will be able to be extremely flexible with Prothro in the offense and still have plenty of opportunities for all of their other tight ends.
Georgia will still have to hold off Florida and Texas for another week as everyone waits for Prothro's commitment date, but there are multiple reasons why Georgia fans should still expect good news on July 12 when Prothro announces his commitment.
