Georgia football and Kirby Smart love to flip recruits from other schools. Winning any recruitment is always cause for celebration, but there's something about stealing a recruit that's already committed to another school that is even more satisfying.

Going after flip targets usually doesn't happen too much at this point on the recruiting trail mainly because not that many recruits have committed to a school yet. But that hasn't stopped Smart and his staff from aggressively pursuing five-star QB Dia Bell who is committed to Texas.

However, there is another recruit that Georgia is now pursuing who is committed to an elite program, and it's clear just how badly Smart and his staff want this player.

5-star EDGE Xavier Griffin

Xavier Griffin is an elite five-star EDGE from Gainesville, GA. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Griffin is the No. 24 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 2 linebacker in the country and the No. 3 player from Georgia as well.

This is the exact player that Georgia and Smart routinely go after, an elite player on the defensive line from the state of Georgia. And more ofter than not, this is a recruitment the Bulldogs tend to win. However, this recruitment has not gone Georgia's way so far as Griffin committed to USC back on July 27 of last year.

That clearly has not stopped Georgia from pursuing Griffin however, and the latest example of that is when Glenn Schumann went and visited Griffin in person a few days ago at his home as seen in the above post.

This will be a recruitent Georgia fans will want to follow throughout this recruiting cycle because Griffin is a player Georgia desperately wants in their recruiting class. And hopefully that's what ends up happening because UGA needs to win the recruitments for talented players from Georgia.
