Georgia football and Kirby Smart were hosting their most important visitor of the 2026 recruiting cycle this weekend, and that player is five-star quarterback Jared Curtis.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Curtis is the No. 1 quarterback in the country and the No. 2 overall player as well. So it goes without saying how important this recruitment is for the future of Georgia football.

Thankfully Georgia was named one of two finalists, along with Oregon, but everyone knows how difficult it can be to defeat the Ducks on the recruiting trail nowadays.

Georgia however got a chance to impress Curtis this weekend as he visited Athens for a long unofficial visit. This visit came one day after a similar trip out west to Oregon, so this last week will go a long way for Curtis in deciding who the best fit is for him.

So how did Curtis's visit go these past few days? Jeff Sentell with dawgnation.com shared a lot of intimate details about how it went and what he is hearing is going Georgia's way.

What Georgia insider Jeff Sentell is hearing

Sentell shared that proximity to home is playing a role in this recruitment. This is a big win for Georgia because Athens is significantly closer Cutis's hometown in Tennessee compared to Oregon.

On top of proximity to home, Curtis shared that the family atmosphere and familiarty with the program are two things that are swinging in Georgia's favor as well.

The last thing shared by Sentell is that he doesn't believe the biggest NIL deal will automatically win this recruitment. This is great news for Georgia because even though the Bulldogs have a strong NIL backing, it does not match what Oregon has as the Ducks potentially have the best NIL in the country. If this recruitment came down to NIL, Curtis would pick the Ducks, but that thankfully does not appear to be the case.

It is unclear at this time when Curtis plans to announce his commitment, Sentell however doesn't believe his decision will stretch to the end of April. So a final decision from Curtis could realistically be right around the corner.

But while Georgia fans wait for that announcement, things appear to be going pretty well for the Bulldogs, especially after On3 named UGA as the new leader in Curtis's recruitment.
