Georgia football hosted their second spring scrimmage on Saturday, a scrimmage that Kirby Smart did not allow the media to be present for. But that doesn't mean there wasn't a lot of information that could be learned from this scrimmage.

Many insiders were able to gather intel from the scrimmage this weekend and share what they were able to learn. Mike Griffith with Dawg Nation was one of those insiders who provided some of the following updates for Georgia fans to take in.

Players that Impressed

There were countless Bulldogs that impressed during the scrimmage on Saturday, but here are a few that Griffith heard the most about.

"Linebacker Chris Cole is another Georgia player who many have speculated could be on the verge of a breakout season."

"Lawson Luckie is a name UGA fans know well, as his pass-catching skills have flashed his first two seasons on campus in practice and at times in games."

"t’s not surprising to hear that Nate Frazier looks as explosive as ever at tailback, even if he did drop a pass."

"Those who actually play the receiver position — the ones used in the scrimmage — impressed. Colbie Young, London Humphreys, Noah Thomas and freshman Tayln Taylor had notable performances."

Quarterback Update

"The one thing those watching did agree on was that Gunner Stockton, who didn’t get as much work as the backups, looked adequate. Ryan Puglisi and preferred walk-on Colter Ginn had their moments, with an encouraging sentiment expressed, overall."

While there is most certainly a quarterback competition this offseason between Stocktona nd Puglisi, there likely isn't anything to read into here with Stocton not getting much run during the scrimmage. He so far is the clear leader in the competition, and not playing as much as others likely isn't a sign of anything.

Freshman Showing Out

"Freshman Elijah Griffin, who received a great deal of hype as a 5-star freshman recruit, appeared to be everything he was made out to be in this scrimmage."

"And, in freshman Elyiss Williams— a 6-foot-7, 255-pounder — Georgia might have found themselves another matchup nightmare that can split out wide."

Freshman always play a big role on Georgia's team every season, and these two seem like prime candidates to be the next star freshman in Athens.

Championship Contender

The last thing worth mentioning is probably the most exciting sentiment taken away from this scrimmage.

"If the second-hand reports are as accurate as they are believed to be, it means this Georgia football team is starting to look like a championship contender once again, even if there is a great deal of work still ahead."

If that doesn't get you excited about Georgia football, then likely nothing will.
