Earlier on Friday, former Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck announced that he has officially transferred to Miami (FL). This news came just one day after Beck announced that he was entering the transfer portal in the first place.
When a player announces a commitment this fast, it's quite clear that they knew for some time where they were going to transfer. And that is especially true with Beck because within a couple minutes of entering the portal, word was out that Miami was the team to beat in this recruitment.
But what led to Beck deciding to leave Georgia in the first place? Did Georgia see this coming or were they as shocked as everyone else? Thankfully Radi Nabulsi from Rivals shared an inside scoop on Facebook about what led to Beck entering the transfer portal.
"He went to California, got a second opinion," Nabulsi shared. "He did not stay in contact very well with the University of Georgia. Did not keep them in the loop, made a lot of these decisions on his own. Did not coordinate surgery with them or rehab with them or a plan of attack. He basically left Georgia in the dark on a lot of that."
"He did come back for the bowl game, but that was kind of at the last second and more of a moral support thing. He wasn't there for the practices and he wasn't there as a mentor for Gunner Stockton. He's moved on from the University of Georgia and Georgia's had to move on from him."
Carson Beck was checked out the second he was injured
This inside info from Nabulsi makes one thing abundantly clear. Beck was completely checked out and removed himself from the program the second he was injured during the SEC Championship game against Texas.
It's a shame that this is how everything went down because Georgia could have really used Beck during the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame. Gunner Stockton could have used the help from Beck and the rest of the team could have benefitted from his support. Unfortunately Beck did not give his teammates any of that.
This however just speaks to why Georgia fans should not miss Beck. This shows that Beck is not a great leader at all, which is something that a lot of people felt throughout the entire season already. The team also clearly rallied behind Stockton more than Beck once he took over, so Stockton likely is the better option going forward for that reason.
It's a shame that this is how Beck's time at Georgia is ending, but he clearly never cared that much about Georgia so UGA fans should no longer care about him either.
