Georgia football's recent recruiting success has been well documented in the 2026 recruiting class, but they are also earning a lot of momentum with the 2027 class as well. The Bulldogs currently have two commits in the 2027 class already, which is good enough for the No. 10 class in the country.

So while Kirby Smart and his staff continue to focus on the 2026 class, they will continue to work hard behind the scenes with many elite recruits from the 2027 class. And one of those recruits they are not giving up on is four-star tight end George Lamons.

Georgia is working hard to flip 4-star Texas A&M commit

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Lamons is the No. 78 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 4 tight end in the 2027 class and the No. 10 player from the state of Georgia.

There aren't too many 2027 recruits who have announced a commitment yet, but Lamons is one of the few players who has committed. In fact, he was one of the first players in the 2027 class to announce a commitment as he committed to Texas A&M back in April.

This commitment however is not stopping Georgia from pursuing him, as reported by On3's Radi Nabulsi.

The Bulldogs have found a lot of success recruiting the tight end position recently as the No. 8 tight end in the 2026 class just committed to Georgia on July 4. The Bulldogs are also the team to beat for five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro as well. But those recruitments won't impact UGA's pursuit of Lamons because he is in the 2027 class.

Convincing any recruit to flip their commitment is always a difficult task, but Georgia will always stand a great chance at accomplishing that with an in-state recruit. That is especially the case for a tight end as no program in the country has found more success at that position than Georgia.
