Georgia football and Kirby Smart continue to show that they are prioritizing the state of Georgia on the recruiting trail. That was seen this past recruiting cycle when Georgia signed six of the top 10 players from Georgia.

That emphasis on in-state recruits appears to be continuing with the 2026 cycle as Georgia is in on a lot of the top players from the peach state, including one of the best running backs in the country.

4-star RB Carsyn Baker

Carsyn Baker is a four-star running back from Fairburn, GA. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Baker is the No. 241 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class. He also is the No. 31 player from Georgia as well as the No. 18 running back in the country.

Smart and his staff will always show at least some interest with some of the better players from Georgia, but Baker is beginning to stand out as one of the in-state recruits they are targeting the most. So much so that Jeremy Johnson with On3 reported that Georgia is emerging as one of the favorites in this recruitment.

That however is somehow not reflected on On3's recruiting site as Georgia is not even listed as one of the top five schools in his recruitment. It is actually South Carolina who is the current leader according to On3 as they are given a 26.4 percent chance to win this recruitment.

We know this information is at least somewhat outdated because he has publicly shared in the past that Georgia is one of his top schools. This is reflected on 247Sports because they list Georgia, Auburn, Teas A&M, Kentucky and South Carolina has the five "warm" teams in Baker's recruitment.

So while it appears there is a lot unkown about this recruitment, one thing Georgia fans do now is that UGA has a great chance to land Baker still. So don't be surprised to hear an update in the near future about Baker scheduling an upcoming visit to Georgia.
