The highlight of every offseason for Georgia football is their annual G-Day. This is the one time every offseason that fans get to watch the Bulldogs take the field and practice and scrimmage each other.

Unfortunately there is a chance that G-Day could be cancelled altogether this year.

Georgia's G-Day is in serious danger of being cancelled

Georgia Athletic Director Josh Brooks recently shared that a final decision on G-Day has not been made yet for this offseason. This comment came after last year when Georgia did not televise their G-Day like they normally do.

Kirby Smart blamed TV networks for this, but if they decide to cancel G-Day altogether then that argument won't make much sense anymore.

So why would Georgia want to cancel G-Day? Why would they want to put an end to the one thing that excites Georgia football fans during the offseason?

Some people argue that they could do this in an effort to decrease the chance for unnecessary offseason injuries. That however doesn't make much sense because Georgia practices extremely hard and scrimmages outside of G-Day in the offseason as well, so there is just as good of a chance that players get injured in those practices.

Some also say that coaches don't want to have a spring game or don't want to broadcast it so coaches from other teams can't scout them. Those coaches could look to see what Georgia has been working on this offseason or use G-Day as a chance to see which players they want to try and steal out of the Transfer Portal.

While there is a chance that happens, it seems like a risk Georgia should take so they can keep their fans involved in the program throughout the offseason.

At this point a final decision has not been made, but with every passing day it seems more likely that G-Day will be cancelled this year.

What a shame that would be.
