All the talk in Athens right now is surrounding the Georgia football team. The Bulldogs are 9-1, the No. 4 team in the country and in a prime position to make a run at a National Championship. But there’s another team in Athens having a great season as well, and that is the Georgia men’s basketball team.

The Bulldogs are looking to build off their NCAA Tournament appearance from last season, and so far they are doing just that. They are a perfect 5-0 so far this year which includes a solid 92-87 win over rival Georgia Tech. But that game was an outlier for Georgia this season because they have won every other game in dominant fashion. So much so that they are leading the country in average scoring margin as they have won each game by an average of 36.8 points so far this year.

Georgia basketball is the most dominant team in the country

Georgia hasn’t faced the most difficult schedule in the country so far this season, but when they are dominating their opponents it really doesn’t matter. All they can do is play who is on their schedule, and not only are they doing that but they are winning in blowout fashion.

Georgia was not predicted to have a good season this year. They were picked by the media to finish near the bottom of the SEC even though they made the NCAA Tournament last season. But this team has proven everyone wrong because they look much better than anyone expected.

Georgia’s next matchup will be a good test for them as they will face Xavier in a neutral site game in South Carolina. Xavier is only 3-2 this season and ESPN analytics give Georgia an 80 percent chance to win this game, so the Bulldogs should expect to move to 6-0 Friday night.

So even though everyone’s focus is on the football team right now, it’s important to give the basketball team some love as well as they are off to an impressive start this season.
