Four-star linebacker Nick Abrams is down to four schools, Georgia, Oregon, Alabama and Michigan. Abrams has a commitment date scheduled for July 16, and On3's Chad Simmons has reported that Georgia and Oregon are the two teams he believes are leading for Abrams one week out from his commitment date.

Georgia has surpassed Michigan for 4-star LB
One week ago a report came out that indicated Big Ten rivals Oregon and Michigan were the two teams leading for Abrams. Georgia and Alabama were still in his top four, but neither were given much of a chance to win this battle. That however has changed six days away from Abrams' commitment, according to Simmons.
According to Simmons, Georgia has now caught up to and surpassed Michigan, who no longer is in Abrams' top two. Simmons now believes Abrams' recruitment is down to Georgia and Oregon, which is a huge development for UGA.
Who knows how Georgia was able to get back in the running in Abrams' recruitment so fast, but this development is a great reminder for every college football fan. Kirby Smart can never be doubted, especially when it comes to recruiting linebackers.
During Smart's nine year tenure as Georgia's head coach, UGA has had three linebackers win the Butkus Award which goes to the nation's best linebacker. Jalon Walker was the latest Bulldog linebacker to win this award just last season. So why wouldn't a linebacker seriously consider Georgia if Smart and his staff decide to pursue them?
Georgia fans have a few short days to wait to see if Abrams commits to UGA or not, but based on this update it appears Georgia fans should be a little hopeful. It is not a guarantee that Georgia will win by any means, but they have a much better chance than they did a week ago.
