Former Georgia football head coach Mark Richt knows what it takes to win at the highest level in the SEC. During his time in Athens he led Georgia to two SEC Championships which included their first in 20 years in 2002.

Richt recently spoke about the Bulldogs upcoming game against Alabama this weekend, and it's clear that he knows how big of a game it is. He also knows how difficult it will be for UGA to win as he used one word to describe how he believes this game will play out.

“When you play those guys, it’s so meaningful, just from a manhood type of point of view,” Richt shared via dawgnation.com. “You know it’s a man’s game, it’s going to be physical, you can imagine, so those players know they have to bring their A game."

Mark Richt expects a dogfight on Saturday

"Manhood" is the perfect word to describe this game. No programs can compare to Georgia and Alabama after all of the success both teams have experienced over the last decade, and the biggest reason why both programs found so much success is because of their physicality. UGA and Alabama are regularly the most physical team when they take the field, and that is what led them to so many championships.

Richt then continued to reiterate just how physical he believes this game will be.

“It’s going to be a physical fight, so over the years we’ve had some wins and some losses, but it’s always a privilege to be in that type of game," Richt continued.

But the last thing Richt said was perfect as it sums up exactly what this game means to both programs.

“Georgia-Alabama, it doesn’t get any bigger than that.”

Georgia and Alabama are scheduled to do battle on Saturday, Sep. 27 at 7:30 pm EST with the Bulldogs listed as a slight 2.5 point favorite.
