While no one was hoping to see Georgia lose to Ole Miss Thursday night, this loss did come at a convenient time because the Transfer Portal officially opened on Jan. 2. Georgia has lost a few players to the portal already, but there are also a few players showing interest in them as well.

It is becoming very clear that Georgia is extremely motivated to add a defensive lineman out of the portal, and one of their targets is Penn State transfer Chaz Coleman.

Georgia sets their sites on Penn State DL transfer

Coleman is a defensive lineman from Penn State who just wrapped his freshman season with the Nittany Lions. He finished the year with eight tackles, one sack and one forced fumble, and based on the amount of playing time he got those stats are actually pretty great.

Coleman is an intriguing prospect because he still has three years of eligibility remaining. So while Georgia is also looking at guys like USC transfer Devan Thompkins who has one year of college football remaining, adding someone like Coleman who could be around for a few years would be a nice win.

Georgia's defensive line was not one of their strengths this season like they typically are. That was seen in their Sugar Bowl loss to Ole Miss Thursday night as quarterback Trinidad Chambliss had the game of his life en route to their upset victory. So while Coleman might not be able to come in and be a superstar right away, he is someone that could be a great depth piece that could become an elite player in the future.

Georgia has some stiff competition they must overcome in this recruitment, but Coleman would be a big win that would make an impact the moment he steps foot on campus.
