Georgia's season ended less than 24 hours ago, but in the new age of college football the grind never stops. The second Georgia's season ends their full attention heads to the Transfer Portal as Kirby Smart and his staff will look to improve their roster for next year.
Defensive line is one position that Georgia needs to improve at, and they already have their eyes set on one of the top available options in the portal. And the good news is that they are standing out to this player as well.

Georgia contending for nation's No. 2 Transfer Portal DL
Devan Thompkins just wrapped up his third season at USC. He didn't make much of an impact during his freshman season in 2023, but he has been a very strong player for the Trojans the past two seasons. Most recently he finished the 2025 season with 31 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble.
Georgia's defensive front was pretty awful the first half of the season. They struggled to get any pressure on the quarterback and as a result they had to rely heavily on their offense to win games. The second half of the season was much better, but it was clear that they needed to add some more talent this offseason.
Thompkins is the No. 2 defensive lineman in the Transfer Portal according to On3. That shows how he would be able to immediately come in and help improve Georgia's defensive front, but it won't be easy for UGA to win this recruitment. The Bulldogs are one of five teams Thompkins is showing interest in along with Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama and Auburn. The Crimson Tide look like they are going to be the first team to host him, so Alabama may be Georgia's biggest competition..
But Thompkins is showing a lot of interest in Georgia as well, and if UGA can come out on top this would be a massive start to the portal season.
