Georgia missed on 5-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton for one big reason

It is clear why Georgia missed on one of their most important recruits.

Five-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton has made a lot of headlines in his recruitment recently, and Georgia has been front and center. The Bulldogs have been a top option for Guyton throughout his recruitment, but he unfortunately made the decision to commit to Texas Tech back in August.

That however did not stop Georgia from pursuing him, but it made life very difficult for UGA to end up on top.

Georgia's standing with Guyton took a step in the right direction this week though as he announced that he would be visiting Athens for their game aginast Ole Miss. On top of that, Guyton also shared that he would be reclassifying to the 2026 recruiting class meaning his recruitment would end in two months rather than a year from now.

This gave Georgia some hope that they could flip Guyton from Texas Tech and bring him to Athens next season. But a last second decision ended those hopes as he decided to cancel his visit to Georgia and stick with the Red Raiders.

LaDamion Guyton chose Texas Tech for one reason

There are countless reasons why Guyton could be choosing Texas Tech over Georgia, but the biggest reason why is because of the Red Raiders NIL offer. Georgia has an extremely competitive NIL department, but it is a known fact that Kirby Smart will not overpay for any recruit. Texas Tech on the other hand has shown they are willing to spend any amount of money for a recruit they want. And that is what it looks like they did with Guyton.

Why else would someone from the Peach State (like Guyton) choose to play for Teas Tech over a program like Georgia? The Bulldogs are a better team, have developed more NFL players at his position and have more respect on a national level as a program. Everything points to Georgia being the smart choice, except when it comes to money.

If Guyton did choose Texas Tech over Georgia because of their NIL offer than more power to him because that is someone Samrt doesn't want in his program anyways. But it's a shame this is what it has come down to because all other signs point to Guyton being the perfect player for Georgia.
