Georgia's battle with Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff is quickly approaching. The Bulldogs will take on the Rebels on Jan. 1 at 8:00 pm EST at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans with a trip to the CEP semifinals on the line.

This game will be a significant challenge for Georgia as Ole Miss is a team that is more than capable of taking down UGA. But it's impossible to not look ahead to what could be waiting for them in the semifinals and the significant disadvantage Georgia will face.

Georgia will face disadvantage if they advance to the CFP semifinals

Georgia and Ole Miss will battle in the last game of the CFP quarterfinals. So while both teams are playing as hard as they can to try and earn the last spot in the semifinals, the three other teams who already advanced will either be sitting at home or traveling home after their game. This will give each of these teams extra rest compared to Georgia who will probably end up staying the night in New Orleans after this game because it will end so late.

But it gets even worse for Georgia because their opponent in the semis actually plays their game a day sooner. Ohio State and Miami's quarterfinal matchup takes place on Dec. 31, one whole day before Georgia and Ole Miss play. So the Buckeyes and Hurricanes already have an extra day off compared to Georgia which is a big advantage for them.

None of this will matter though if Georgia fails to beat Ole Miss. The good news is that UGA is favored by about a touchdown against the Rebels, but as everyone knows that does not guarantee a victory.

But if Georgia does win they will already be at a disadvantage compared to their next opponent.
