Always be 'crootin'. Even when you think you have a player fully committed to your team and your cause, there is always somebody out there trying to poach him. College football has become so incredibly beyond exhausting in that regard. It is why Kirby Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs staff have to be relentless in their ongoing recruiting endeavors. They will need to keep recruiting Donte Wright.

Wright committed to Georgia on June 30. He has 19 official offers, including ones from the four aforementioned UGA competitors. According to the 247Sports Composite, Wright is a five-star prospect from Long Beach, California. He is the No. 2 player from his state, the No. 3 cornerback in his class, and the No. 31 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting cycle. His interest is only picking up!
Now that teams like Miami are honing in on flipping Wright, Smart and his staff better be ready for it.
4 college football blue-bloods are trying to flip 5-star Georgia commit
When looking at Wright's recruiting profile, you can clearly see who his primary and secondary recruiters are. With Donte Williams in the lead and Travaris Robinson serving as his backup, Smart has put out his best defensive back gurus on this major prospect from out-of-state. Given that Williams has such tremendous ties to the region from his time being on the USC staff, this is quite significant.
Of course, seeing those four other names being in the mix for Wright suggests flipping season could be coming soon. That is not to say that Wright will flip, but it is not out of the realm of possibility. The biggest advantage Georgia has outside of its winning pedigree and having Williams on staff is that hometown USC is not quite there from a defensive standpoint. If it had its stuff together, he may stay.
Ultimately, Wright's national exposure continues to grow when he impresses at any number of camps he attends. He has all spring, all summer, and all fall to make the best decision for him. We have seen over the years that while Georgia does recruit well, the Bulldogs will regularly lose a blue-chip prospect to another contender with big-pocketed boosters. There is also the Jared Curtis debacle...
For now, Wright has been committed to Georgia for nearly seven months now, so it means something.
