Georgia football's win over Auburn is old news at this point, but some interesting stories are beginning to emerge that occurred leading up to this game. And no story is more interesting than what offensive lineman Monroe Freeling shared about what he had to go through just to get his body healthy enough to play.

“I was sleeping while icing my ankle every single night. I wanted to be out there so bad. Even if I didn’t get to play I wanted to be there to support my teammates.”

Monroe Freeling tells wild story on how he got healthy enough to play vs Auburn

Freeling suffered an ankle injury against Kentucky earlier this season. That injury looked serious at first as it kept him sidelined for the rest of that game, but it turned out to not be as serious as anyone thought. He did however have a lot of work to do just to be able to play against Auburn the following week.

One of the things Freeling said he had to do to get healthy was ice his ankle while sleeping at night, and that sounds miserable. But Freeling was willing to do whatever it took just to have a chance to play against Auburn, and it thankfully worked out in his favor because he was given the green light to play the day of the game.

The best part of this story though is how dominant Freeling was agianst the Tigers during this game. He and the rest of the offensive line had their way with Auburn for most of the night, and their success helped spring Georgia to go on a 20-0 run that ultimately took down the Tigers.

There won't be many more stories that rival this level of toughness the rest of this season, but Freeling showed how much of a warrior he is. And it's this mindset that will help carry Georgia's offense the rest of this season.
