Georgia football doesn't need much help getting up for Alabama and finding the motivation to take on the Crimson Tide. However, Kirby Smart will certainly use as much outside help motivating his team as he can get.
Thankfully Vegas oddsmakers just gave Georgia a nice dose of motivation, and UGA should be extremely thankful they did so.
Vegas helping Georgia with latest dose of motivation
As of Sunday, Sep. 21, Georgia is a 3.5 point favorite over Alabama according to FanDuel Sportsbook. This line however hasn't always been this low as it was very recently set at 4.5 points while also sitting at 6.5 points a few weeks ago. So this tells Georgia fans that Vegas is much higher on Alabama than they used to be because a three point line movement is very significant.
This movement also tells Georgia that much of the public is siding with Alabama as well. Even though UGA is still favored, the spread decreasing like this shows a majority of the public was betting on the Crimson Tide when the spread was at 6.5 and 4.5 points.
This line movement also doesn't make a lot of sense because Georgia just went to Tennessee and earned a very impressive road victory. Alabama on the other hand has already lost a game this season when they fell to Florida State in their season opener, but even after these results Vegas is somehow more confident in Alabama.
It will be interesting to see if this spread changes at all throughout the week, but regardless Georgia should enter this matchup on Saturday as the betting favorite. But at the end of the day that does not matter because Georgia is going to have to play extremely well if they are going to defend their home field and come away with a victory against Alabama.
