By the end of the weekend, we will have a lot more clarity on everything. The Georgia Bulldogs will not only know if they are SEC champions or not, as well as what seed they will have in the College Football Playoff, but they will also know who plans to sign on the dotted line to be part of their 2026 recruiting class. National Signing Day is effectively on Wednesday, so we will have our eyes peeled.
Unfortunately, it does not look like one four-star commit is going to stick it out and play for Georgia.
Hod Rabino of Devils Digest predicted that Arizona State is going to flip Jarmaine Mitchell this week.
#Georgia commit and 4-star OT Jarmaine Mitchell has just been predicted to flip his commitment to Arizona State by Hod Rabino of Devils Digest (Arizona State ON3 site). 😕

According to the 247Sports Composite, Mitchell is the No. 1 junior college player from Louisiana, the No. 1 offensive tackle prospect, and the No. 3 overall player looking to make the jump up from JUCO in 2026. The Copiah-Lincoln star is every bit of 6-foot-8 and 310 pounds. Mitchell has been committed to Georgia since Halloween, but Arizona State is one of the other places that he visited.
He had 14 offers coming out, including Arkansas, Colorado, LSU, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss.
Georgia Bulldogs could lose 4-star JUCO OT recruit to Arizona State
Look. Of the 14 places Mitchell received offers from, Arizona State and Georgia were two of the three he took an official visit to, as well as to UTEP for some reason. One would think one of the top junior college recruits would want to go play Power Four football. While he can do that at places like Arizona State and Georgia, one will get him ready for the NFL, while the other may guarantee him playing time.
If Mitchell were to honor his commitment and stick with Georgia, it might be a grind to see the field, but it might be the best place for him to get to the next level. Arizona State is a fine program, but nowhere in the same vicinity as Georgia. Kenny Dillingham is a fantastic head coach leading his alma mater, but when has Arizona State ever produced an elite amount of offensive tackles this century?
Regardless, Mitchell may be heading to Tempe for a better opportunity to prove himself. One would think Arizona State will be a contender in the Big 12 again next year. They do have to figure out their quarterback situation moving forward. It kind of always felt like it was going to be either Arizona State or Georgia landing Mitchell's commitment, but the Dawgs may get beaten out in the end by the Devils.
For now, let's just wait to see whose images are shown across Georgia's official football account on X.
