One of the best things in sports is beating your rival. And while Georgia has other bigger rivals they care about more, beating Georgia Tech will always be special as they are UGA’s in-state rival.

It really doesn’t matter all that much which sport Georgia beats Georgia Tech in either, because the enjoyment that comes from it is second to none. So whether it’s football, soccer, volleyball or even chess, beating Tech will always be great.

But that fun reaches its peak when UGA beats Tech in one of the three biggest sports at Georgia. Those sports are football, men’s basketball and baseball, and last night Georgia capped off their season-long dominance over the Yellow Jackets with a big win on the diamond.

Georgia dominates Tech

Georgia baseball had their annual matchup with the Yellow Jackets Tuesday night in Atlanta, and the Bulldogs took home the victory 5-2. While the final score was close, it was never really a contest as UGA was in control the entire game.

Now looking back a few months ago, Georgia also beat Tech in men’s basketball on the road 77-69. And who could forget the football team’s 8OT thriller against the Yellow Jackets back in the fall.

While there are many ways to dominate a rival, there really is no better way then beating them in all three major sports during the same season. In fact, this marks the second year in a row that Georgia was able to pull this feat off.

So the next time you run into a Georgia Tech fan make sure you remind them of this, because as it stands today Georgia is the top dog in the state and it isn’t particularly close.
