There were a lot of stars on Georgia football’s team this past season, but not many players were more impressive than running back Trevor Etienne. That’s why it was a shame that Etienne had to deal with an injury midway through the season because he had shown just how great of a player he really is.
Thankfully his injury didn’t end up impacting Georgia’s season too much, but the second he made his return you could tell Georgia’s offense improved immediately.
Etienne finished the 2024 season with 122 carries for 609 yards and nine touchdowns in just 10 games played. This production and the obvious skill set he has made Georgia fans extremely excited to see how he would do in his senior season in 2025. Those hopes however were erased when Etienne changed his mind and decided to enter the NFL Draft.
This move really wasn’t all that surprising considering how talented of a player Etienne is, but every Georgia fan was left wondering why Etienne changed his mind. Thankfully he spoke on that recently during the Senior Bowl as he spoke about what went into this decision.
“I talked with my family and we felt like the best decision for me was to move forward and take this step,” Etienne shared via dawgnation.com. “It was a challenging decision, but it’s always been my dream to be competing at the highest level.”
Etienne NFL projection
Etienne is projected to be a second day pick in the NFL Draft later this summer, meaning he will be selected in the second or third round. It’s not very often that a running back goes in the first round anymore, so this would indicate that Etienne will be one of the first running backs selected in the draft.
Etienne will be a fun player to watch in the NFL over the next few years. He clearly has the talent to be an elite player, but unfortuantely the NFL has been shifting in recent years and becoming a more pass heavy league.
But if any player can break out of that mold it’s Etienne, so hopefully he gets drafted by the right team who will give him a chance to do just that.
