One of the biggest losses for Georgia football so far on the recruiting trail this offseason was when five-star tight end Mark Bowman announced his commitment to USC a few weeks ago. Many believed that Georgia was at least in second place in this recruitment if not the team to beat, but no one thought USC was even close to the top of his list.
USC however turned out to be his No. 1 team as Bowman decided to leave Georgia in the dust.
Even though Bowman didn't commit to Georgia, there was still some hope that UGA could stay in the running for his commitment. Bowman had an official visit still scheduled to Georgia this weekend, so the hope was that Kirby Smart and his staff could work their magic and turn the tides in this recruitment.
That however will not be possible because Bowman has officially cancelled his official visit to Georgia.
USC commit 5-star TE Mark Bowman will not take his official visit to #Georgia this weekend, he tells me.

Georgia doesn't need to panic after this miss
There are a lot of reasons why Bowman chose the Trojans over Georgia, but the biggest reason seems to be his NIL offer that was hilariously high. No matter the reason, Georgia now has to pivot to find another tight end to add to their class.
While Bowman is the No. 1 tight end in the country, the Bulldogs need to look no further than the No. 2 tight end to find who their next target is. Kaiden Prothro is from the state of Georgia and is someone UGA wanted in their class regardless of what Bowman did, so he now is an extremely important piece for Georgia to bring in.
Georgia also has a commitment from four-star tight end Lincoln Keyes already, who appears to be 100 percent locked in with the Bulldogs.
If Georgia is able to earn a commitment from Prothro they will no longer have to worry about missing on Bowman. And hopefully Georgia is able to do just that, because it appears Georgia has no shot at changing Bowman's mind.
