Georgia football is still searching for their quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. Sure it is only February so not having a QB commit at this point isn't cause for concern, but the quarterback position is one most programs like to find their commit early in the recruiting cycle because it can help them get momentum for the rest of the cycle.
One player that Georgia has had their eyes on for quite some time is five-star Jared Curtis, who was once committed to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs last year. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Curtis is the No. 2 overall player in the country and the top ranked QB in the 2026 class. So it's quite clear how big of a loss he was to the recruiting class and how important it is to get him back in the fold.
Thankfully Georgia still appears to be one of the top schools in this recruitment as Georgia is one of three schools, along with Oregon and South Carolina, that Curtis will officially visit later this summer. But according to On3's Josh Newberg, Oregon is the heavy favorite right now.
"He (Curtis) recently told me he likes Oregon a lot."
"I am predicting him to land with Oregon... I think as it stands right now, they (Oregon) are setting the tone for Jared Curtis."
No. 1 QB Jared Curtis cut his list to 6, but @SWiltfong_ says there's one team out in front‼️

Will Georgia be able to make up ground?
This is going to be a very difficult recruitment for Georgia to win. The fact that UGA was already able to get Curtis in their class once before does give a little confidence, but he did back off his commitment to Georgia for a reason. Typically when recruits do that it is very unlikely for them to re-commit to the same program again, but Georgia is giving their best effort to break that trend.
But the final thing Newburg said in the above vides is going to make that even more difficult because he shared that he believes Curtis will announce a commitment sooner rather than later. And if Oregon is the current favorite then this is bad news for Georgia.
Regardless, UGA will get their chance to host Curtis on a visit later this summer, so hopefully Smart and his staff can knock that visit out of the park so they can get Curtis back in Georgia's recruiting class.
