Georgia football was a bit quiet in the Transfer Portal this offseason. They didn't make any big splashes in the portal like other programs did, but a lot of that had to do with the fact they didn't need to. The Bulldogs already have a great roster in tact, so all they needed to do was add a few solid players at key positions.

One of those players they did add was Auburn EDGE Amaris Williams. It is always an interesting dynamic when a rival transfers to Georgia, but UGA should have no issues when a player chooses to change to the good side like Williams did.

Williams has the potential to be a great player as early as next year for Georgia, and his former teammate spent some time at the NFL Combine hyping him up.

Auburn Tiger praises new Georgia transfer Amaris Williams

Williams began his career at Auburn in 2024 as a five-star recruit and the No. 30 player in the 2024 recruiting class. He didn't make much of an impact as a true freshman as he recorded seven tackles and .5 sacks, but the following season in 2025 he doubled his tackles to 14 and added two more sacks.

Williams then decided to enter the Transfer Portal which ultimately led him to take his talents to Georgia. EDGE was a position of need for UGA, and Williams was the perfect addition to help make that group better next year.

Williams Auburn teammate Kenyon Crawford spoke about Williams at the NFL Combine this week saying he is an "upcoming star." He would know that better than anyone else after playing with him the last two years, so this statement speaks volumes.

Georgia had one of their worst seasons rushing the quarterback this past year, but Williams will look to change that this fall. And by all accounts he should be someone that should be expected to make a big impact the second he takes the field at Georgia.
