Georgia football struck gold in the 2026 recruiting class by landing the No. 1 quarterback in the country in Jared Curtis. This commitment will do wonders for the program for years to come, but there is one negative side effect that comes with that.
This side effect is how difficult it will be to recruit quarterbacks in future recruiting classes. Even if that is the case though, Georgia will still need to do their best to recruit the position at a high level. So knowing the challenge that is in front of Georgia, here are a few targets Dawg Post insider Matt DeBary shared from the 2027 recruiting class.
5-star QB will be a long shot
Considering Georgia added the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class in Curtis, it will be nearly impossible for them to add one of the top QBs in the 2027 class. Not many elite quarterbacks (if any) will want to come to Georgia to potentially sit behind Curtis for a few years, so Georgia fans shouldn't expect to add a five-star QB in the 2027 class.
The one five-star quarterback that Georgia appears to be targeting is Elijah Haven who is the top ranked player in the country. It will be next to impossible to win this recruitment, but Georgia has thrown their name in the mix so time will tell if Haven is interested in UGA or not.
3 Peach State targets
Since it could be difficult for Georgia to find their quarterback in the 2027 class, the most likely outcome is a QB from the state of Georgia who grew up a huge UGA fan. According to Dawg Post, there are three of those targets to keep an eye on in the 2027 class.
The most exciting prospect of these three quarterbacks is four-star Teddy Jarrard who is the No. 217 overall player in the country. Jarrard is beginning to receive a lot of attention from programs across the country, but Georgia likely will be one of the teams high on his list throughout his recruitment.
The two other in-state quarterbacks Georgia is after in the 2027 class is fellow four-star Kharim Hughley and Ben Musser. These two QBs might have high interest in Georgia since they are in-state prospects, but time will tell how interested they are as their recruitments start to heat up.
2 out of state prospects
Last but not least are two quarterbacks outside of Georgia who the Bulldogs are keeping an eye on. The first is four-star Peyton Houston who is one of the top duel-threat quarterbacks in the country. Houston is from Lousiana, so remaining in the south could be very ideal for him. He may be another recruit not interested in following Curtis, but if that doesn't bother him then he is someone Georgia could go all out for.
Three-star Jameson Purcel is the final recruit mentioned by Dawg Post who is from the state of Illinois. Purcel doesn't have the attention from many of the top programs in the country yet, but he is a top candidate to have a breakout junior season this fall which would bring a lot more attention from other elite programs. Georgia is in on him early so that would really help them in the long run as more programs get involved.
It will be very interesting to see who Georgia is able to add at quarterback in the 2027 class, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter all that much. Curtis is Georgia's quarterback of the future, so anyone UGA adds to their 2027 class likely would be his backup for most of their career in Athens.
