Always be 'crootin'. Whether you are a college football blue-blood like the Georgia Bulldogs, or somebody else who does not have as robust of a history, recruiting is the life blood of any program worth its weight in salt. Just when you thought your upcoming recruiting class was starting to take form, a long-committed recruit de-commits. That was the case with Gavin Honore Thursday evening...

The three-star wide receiver from Las Vegas let it be known that he is not going to play for Georgia...

According to the 247Sports Composite, Honore is the No. 4 player from Nevada, the No. 70 wide receiver, and the No. 540 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting cycle. The Bishop Gorman standout had been committed to Georgia since the middle of June. He picked up a few of his 20 offers after committing to Georgia. Honore even took a visit an unofficial visit to Texas after committing to UGA.

Surely, Georgia will be able to pick up another player to replace him between now and next December.

3-star wide receiver for 2027 Gavin Honore decommits from Georgia

Even though Honore de-committing was a tad out of the blue, it did seem like this was potentially going to happen at some point. While he did say it was hard to beat what Georgia had to offer, he did take a visit to Arizona State near the end of October. Honore may have committed to Georgia early, but are you really the least bit surprised to see a three-star from way out-of-state back out it here?

Look. This is not as much about Honore de-committing from Georgia as it is about a much bigger issue. It is starting to be more than a coincidence that seemingly every time Georgia gets a player to commit super early out of state, they back out of it. While this was not done at the last minute like Jared Curtis flipping to Vanderbilt, but it may suggest that other programs are using UGA as bait...

What this may signify is a player who is somewhat gettable like Honore is can be had at a certain price by another team. In short, another team may look at a player Georgia has committed and ask, "How much?" Under Kirby Smart, Georgia really needs to get its ducks in a row when it comes to the wonderful world of NIL. This can play a factor in them being able to get their guys to stay committed.

For now, it will be interesting to see who replaces Honore at Georgia, as well as where he may end up.
