Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis really messed up Georgia's future plans at quarterback. The unofficial plan was for him to come in and sit behind Gunner Stockton for one year before battling (and likely winning) the starting job in 2027.
Unfortunately he did not want to sit around for a year and wait to play, so he decided to take his talents to Vanderbilt where he will be the starter day one.
His departure messes everything up for Georgia in their life after Stockton. The Bulldogs do still have Ryan Puglisi in their quarterback room, but there is a chance he may not want to sit behind Stockton for another year. Regardless of what he does though, Georgia is going to have to get a QB out of the Transfer Portal this offseason.
Thankfully there are already countless quarterbacks who plan to enter the portal when it opens that Georgia can target.

Georgia's next QB may already be waiting for them in the Transfer Portal
It's worth mentioning that it isn't likely that Georgia will be able to convince any of the top quarterbacks in the portal to come to Athens. While Georgia is a very desirable place for any QB, the top quarterbacks in the portal want to play the moment they arrive on campus. And since Stockton likely will be back next season, they will not even look Georgia's way.
But what happens if Stockton leaves for the NFL after this season? If that happens then Georgia may be the No. 1 program with an opening at quarterback. Then UGA would be able to attract any quarterback they want and they more than likely would get an elite player to come in and compete.
There is also a chance that a great player is fine sitting behind Stockton for one season before battling for the starting job heading into the 2027 season. That is unlikely to happen, but there is always a chance that it could.
Regardless of what happens after this season with Georgia's current quarterbacks, they need to add one if not two QBs out of the portal. And it appears this is a great offseason to need a QB because there are already countless quarterbacks planning to enter the portal.
