Throughout the height of Kirby Smart's tenure they have been able to host ESPN's College GameDay a handful of times. The past few years specifically they have had GameDay on campus, but they unfortunately might not have a chance to this season.
The most likely game for Georgia to host GameDay is their week four matchup against Oklahoma. This could be a top 10 matchup, but ESPN could still choose to overlook this showdown because they will be visiting an SEC school during the first three weeks of the season.
ESPN's College GameDay could overlook Georgia's showdown with Oklahoma during Week 4
Whenever Georgia hosts a top 10 matchup GameDay will typically come to town. As long as Georgia and Oklahoma win their first three games of the season they will most likely both be inside the top 10, but they still might not host GameDay. ESPN already announced that GameDay will go to an SEC school for the first three weeks of the season, so that may cause them to head to a new conference in week four.
Week one GameDay will be at LSU when they host Clemson. Week two they will be at Texas when the Longhorns play Ohio State and week three they will be at Ole Miss for Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford with LSU. GameDay could come to Georgia if they really wanted to, but they like to head to other areas of the country so four weeks in the SEC in a row may be too much.
For the fans who love having GameDay in town that would be a problem because the rest of Georgia's home schedule doesn't give them many good chances to host GameDay later in the year.

After the Oklahoma game Georgia will have four more home games against Vanderbilt, Auburn, Missouri and Georgia Tech. In theory any one of these teams could exceed their preseason expectations, run the table and be highly ranked when they come to Athens, but the chances of that happening are slim.
If Georgia is going to host GameDay they will likely have to hope that ESPN doesn't mind coming to the SEC four weeks in a row. There are a few other big matchups this same week though that ESPN could choose over Georgia's matchup with Oklahoma.
Potentially the most intriguing matchup is Oregon and USC who are both ranked inside the top 15 in the preseason AP Poll. Both teams should be undefeated for this matchup, and since Oregon is the No. 2 team in the country GameDay might take advantage of that opportunity to highlight them. Michigan also hosts a ranked Iowa team this week as well which could be a big draw for ESPN.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter if Georgia hosts GameDay or not. There are a lot of fans who like to partake in the GameDay festivities in person though and more national exposure isn't a bad thing either, but at this point it seems unlikely Georgia will get to host GameDay this season.
