Georgia football earned the No. 3 seed in the final College Football Playoff bracket on Sunday. While many Georgia fans were left wondering how they didn't move past Ohio State and earn the No. 2 seed, the No. 3 seed may have been the best option for them.
Georgia will have a favorable matchup in their first game in the quarterfinals against Ole Miss (who is without head coach Lane Kiffin) or Tulane. If they win that game then the Bulldogs greatest wish from the beginning of the season could actually come true in the semifinals.
Georgia could face Carson Beck, Miami in the CFP semifinals
Georgia's most likely opponent in the semifinals is No. 2 Ohio State. There is however a chance the Buckeyes lose to the winner of the first round matchup between No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 10 Miami.
While Georgia shouldn't really care who they play because they are capable of beating any team in the country, they would probably like nothing more than to play Miami.
Not only is Miami theoretically an easier opponent based on seeding compared to Ohio State, but facing the Hurricanes would give Georgia the opportunity to play former UGA quarterback Carson Beck. And after he ditched the program this offseason, Georgia would love to be the team that ends Beck's final season of college football.
A lot has to go right in order for Georgia to play Miami. And if they do get to face Beck and the Hurricanes there is a chance he beats Georgia and ends their season. But that is a risk everyone at Georgia would be willing to take because the one thing everyone wanted when Beck transferred was to play him in the CFP, and there is a chance that actually ends up happening.
