One of Georgia football's top commits in the 2026 recruiting class is four-star defensive back Justice Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick is the sixth highest ranked commit in UGA's class according to 247Sports, and his commitment was huge because he turned down Alabama where his older brother played his college ball.

Fitzpatrick committed to Georgia on June 3, but his commitment has felt shaky at times since then. Since committing though there really hasn't been that much concrete information that would make him a flip candidate, but unfortunately rumors are now swirling that Miami (FL) is going all out and are attempting t to flip Fitzpatrick from Georgia.

Georgia will have to hold off Miami for top DB commit

After Fitzpatrick committed to Georgia at the beginning of June, he made a shocking visit to Ohio State just a few days later. It isn't abnormal for committed recruits to take visits elsewhere, but it is very strange to do it just days after announcing a commitment to a school. So this was the first sign that Fitzpatrick was not ready to officially shut his recruitment down yet.

That visit to Ohio State never turned into anything though, and no other rumors had surfaced since about Fitzpatrick's interest in other programs. That however is no longer the case as Miami is feeling confident enough to aggressively pursue him right now.

Miami has every right to feel good about their chances since they have already flipped two Georgia commits this cycle. The Hurricanes also stole quarterback Carson Beck from Athens this offseason as well. Georgia has won their fair share of recruitments against Miami this recruiting cycle as well, but Miami has found more success than almost every other team against UGA on the recruiting trail this summer.

Time will tell if Fitzpatrick flips to Miami or not, but at this point Georgia fans should be nervous because there is a very real chance he does flip to Miami.
