Every year when Georgia football’s schedule is released, coaches and fans look at the slate of games for the season intently. Right after determining which games will be the toughest to win, they look for that sneaky contest that the team should win, but falls at a potentially perilous point in the season.
For the Bulldogs in 2025, that game is the Nov. 8 matchup on the road against the Mississippi State as this is the perfect trap game for a couple of very obvious reasons.
The placement on the schedule makes the Mississippi St. game worrisome
Just one week removed from playing Florida in the always-heated WLOCP rivalry in Jacksonville, and one week before playing the preseason No. 1 Texas Longhorn, the Dawgs have to somehow get up for a road game in Starkville?
The cowbells will be out in full force as having Georgia come to town will be their Super Bowl for the season. The Bulldogs do catch a bit of a break with the noon start, but the Mississippi State students and fans will already be lathered up and ready to see some history if their Bulldogs were somehow able to pull off the upset.
Mississippi St is one of only three true road games for UGA this season
To be clear, the Dawgs will have a huge talent advantage on paper heading into the game. Still, with only three true road games all season, and though they should be road tested after stops in Knoxville and The Plains, it will be hard to get up for a perennially average SEC team at Wade Davis Stadium.
Last season Mississippi State played Georgia tough in Athens with the Dawgs eventually winning 41-31. Jeff Lebby and company will have their guys tuned up for the contest again this year, and even though State doesn't appear like it should be competitive, the Bulldogs better not just roll their helmets out on the field as Mississippi State will give them their best shot.
