Georgia football has suffered the same fate all season. The Bulldogs have started slow in almost every game this year before having a dominant second half en route to a close victory. That however has not been the case against Mississippi State so far Saturday afternoon.
Georgia entered their matchup against Mississippi State as a 9.5 point favorite, but the consensus from college football experts was that they expected this game to be much closer than that. But through one half that has not been the case as Georgia has taken a 24-7 lead into the halftime locker room.
While it obviously is really exciting to see Georgia have a great first half for once, could this be a new reason UGA fans should be nervous going forward?
Georgia's impressive 1st half vs Mississippi State may be a new cause for concern
Georgia playing extremely well in the first half against Mississippi State was always the hope entering this matchup. Many fans believed they needed a strong start so they can build some confidence that they can start fast against the better teams on their schedule later this season.
But is this fast start actually a good thing?
As mentioned, Georgia has had a lot of issues in the first half all season long. Their slow starts have forced UGA to play with a sense of urgency in the second half that have led them to play really well and emerge victorious. But now that Georgia has had a great first half, will they be able to play with that same sense of urgency during the second half?
Georgia's offense has had their way with Mississippi State all afternoon, and outside of the first drive UGA's defense has been dominant as well. But can they play with the same aggression during the second half and leave Starkville with a comrfortable victory? Can they also repeat this same first half performance against Texas next week when it matters more?
These are questions Georgia will have to answer if they are going to be as great of a team as UGA fans think they can be.
