Georgia football's season outlook was looking very bleak after a disappointing week two win over Austin Peay. The Bulldogs offense looked miserable and the defense wasn't showing signs of being able to make big plays and force turnovers.
Fast forward one week though and everything looks much brighter for Georgia now. The Bulldogs were able to knock off No. 15 Tennessee on the road in dramatic fashion after coming from behind to beat the Vols in overtime. This win means that Georgia now has complete control of their destiny to make it to the College Football Playoff, which is the bare minimum for UGA every season.
Georgia's goals are much greater than just making the playoff, but there is one dream scenario that every UGA fan is praying occurs. They want to see Georgia make the playoff and play Miami (FL) and former UGA quarterback Carson Beck.
Georgia and Miami have the potential to meet in the College Football Playoff
Georgia and Miami aren't traditional rivals, and if they played any other season it would be a completely normal game. But if these two teams played this year it would be one for the record books.
The reason why this would be such a big game is obvious after Beck ditched Georgia and transferred to Miami this offseason. While on the way out of Athens, there was also a lot of drama surrounding how good of a teammate Beck actually was at Georgia. But regardless of what led Beck to transfer, Georgia fans immediately wanted a crack at him and Miami.
It was unclear though if Miami would be a good enough team to make the CFP, but three weeks into the season and it's obvious they are one of the top 12 teams in the country. In fact, the Hurricanes are one spot ahead of Georgia in the AP Poll at No. 4 after wins over Notre Dame and a ranked USF team this season already.
Miami also has a pretty easy schedule the rest of the season, so it would be shocking to see them miss the playoff at this point. Georgia still has work to do to make it into the playoff themselves, but they should be able to get there as well. So now Georgia fans just have to hope that Miami and UGA get to play each other in the CFP, and better yet maybe it will be a home game for the Bulldogs between the hedges.
