Four catches for 45 yards and no touchdowns does not sound like an amazing statistic to many. On paper it is considered a pretty mediocre stat line. However, the tape and the threat that poses to opposing defenses tell another story.
Georgia Bulldogs true freshman Craig Dandridge is the owner of that stat line in Georgia's road win against Alabama. Though the stats say one thing, the immaculate plays in pressure moments is what makes Dandridge a threat for opposing SEC defenses for years to come.
CraigDandridge shows clutch ability against Alabama
Undoubtedly Dandridge's best play was on a critical 3rd and 7 in the third quarter. The play came during Georgia's opening drive of the second half with Georgia trailing Alabama by four and Alabama had all the momentum after scoring a last-second touchdown to end the first half. If the Dawgs don't convert this third down the ball goes right back to Alabama. However, Dandridge had the best play of his young career with a tremendous diving catch in contested coverage.

This catch put the Bulldogs in the redzone and Gunner Stockton would run it into the endzone just two plays later. If Dandridge does not catch that football, the outcome of the game might look completely different.
In years past, Georgia missed opportunities like this against Alabama. The Bulldogs lost games on plays like that because either the receiver could not bring it down or the football was off target on a throw by the quarterback. Stockton's poise to deliver that football and accurately along with the awareness by Dandridge is what makes this play happen.
Speaking of poise, the corner covering Dandridge on that play is Dijon Lee who was responsible for the shove on Dandridge that cost Alabama a first down and inevitably the game right before the two minute warning. When Lee swung twice on Dandridge after the freshman wide receiver had a physical block on the corner, Dandridge did nothing but stand back. He didn't retaliate and draw a flag himself, he stayed composed and let Alabama seal their own fate. Quite impressive for a young kid in a big moment.
Dandridge's game against Alabama alone is not what makes this kid special. Georgia's biggest question entering the season was if a young wide receiver room could fill the shoes of all those who left for the NFL last season, and nobody expected Dandridge to be that guy. Talyn Taylor, Sacovie White-Helton, London Humphreys, and Dandridge all have played up to that level and more. However, it is especially impressive to see how the young true freshman has taken that responsibility and exceled with it.
Dandridge currently leads the Bulldogs on the season in receiving with 222 yards. After seeing what he did against a heavyweight program like Alabama, it is safe to say we do not expect him to slow down anytime soon, and he is just a freshman. As long as he stays in Athens, Georgia fans will get at least three years of this talent.
