Georgia once again will face a difficult schedule during the upcoming 2026 season. One of their opponents is Ole Miss who Georgia obviously has a lot of recent history with.

This will be one of the games Georgia is most looking forward to this season since Ole Miss ended their season in the College Football Playoff, and all signs originally pointed to this being a very difficult game to win. But the NCAA just declined Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss' waiver appeal for a sixth season of eligibility, and that development makes this matchup much easier for Georgia.

Georgia now has a much better chance at beating Ole Miss

No Georgia fan needs to be reminded about how dominant Chambliss was in their CFP matchup last season. While he played extremely well in their first meeting in Athens last year, he put on a legendary performance aginst a really strong Georgia defense in the playoff. Without that performance Georgia likely wins the game and advances to the semifinals, but Chambliss didn't let that happen.

The 2025 season was Chambliss' fifth season of college football, but he decided to fight the NCAA for a sixth year in hopes of playing for Ole Miss again. His appeal however was officially denied by the NCAA on Wednesday meaning he will have no choice but turn pro now.

This is great news for Georgia because they no longer have to worry about playing him again next season. Ole Miss will still have a great team and Georgia will have to travel to Oxford for this matchup, but no one can deny that UGA's chances of winning this game are much better with Chambliss no longer in the picture.

The Bulldogs and Rebels play next season in November, so Ole Miss will have plenty of time to get their new quarterback ready to play. But it doesn't really matter who that player is because Georgia would much rather play them than Chambliss.
