There aren’t many things better as a Georgia fan than beating Florida. Thankfully that is something that has happened quite often under Kirby Smart, but one of their most important goals every season is continuing to beat them.

Florida has a new head coach this year which makes it hard to know what to expect when they play. They will also have a new quarterback in Aaron Philo who transferred from Georgia Tech this offseason.

The Gators just held their spring game this past weekend which gave Georgia a chance to scout Florida a little. And after watching Philo’s performance every Bulldog defender is licking their lips because of how much he struggled.

Florida’s first scrimmage gives Georgia a reason to be very hopeful

The above post indicates that Philo completed about 75 percent of his passes and threw two touchdowns during their scrimmage. That is a very solid performance, but the bad news for Gators fans is that he threw multiple interceptions as well.

One could argue that these interceptions really aren’t that big of a deal because it’s so early in the offseason. In fact, three of Georgia’s quarterbacks threw an interception during their last scrimmage as well. But Georgia and Florida couldn’t be in more different positions.

Gunner Stockton and Georgia’s offense already established themseleves as an elite force last year. Florida and Philo however have not. Then you have to factor in how much better Georgia’s defense is than Floridas, so if they can force two interceptions how much better could UGA to do?

Georgia’s first matchup against Philo is still a long ways away, but right now it is looking like he could really struggle. And if that happens it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Georgia will lose to their out of state rival this season.
