Gerogia basketball found themselves in the SEC Tournament without needing to prove anything. The Bulldogs had already done enough to clinch their spot in the NCAA Tournament, so all that was on the line in the SEC Tournament was momentum and seeding in the Big Dance.

Georgia's first game of the tournament matched them up with Ole Miss who finished near the bottom of the SEC in the regular season. The Rebels however jumped out to a massive lead which ballooned to 20 points at one.

Georgia looked like they were ready to give up, that is until they stormed all the way back and made this a tight game. Unfortuantely the officials stole the show late in the game and took what should've been a miraculous comeback victory away from UGA.

SEC officials stole an important victory from Georgia in the SEC Tournament

Ole Miss ended up squeaking out a 76-72 victory, but it didn't come without any controversy. The officials made a lot of questionable calls throughout most of the game, but with Georgia trailing by double digits for most of the night it really didn't matter. But then Georgia stormed all the way back and those calls ended up mattering more than anyone thought.

The two most obvious blown calls came when the officials missed not one, but two goaltending calls. And for those keeping track at home those four points would've sent this game to overtime.

And while this loss doesn't hurt Georgia's chances of making the NCAA Tournament, UGA fans were rightfully upset.

Regardless of the officials, Georgia can learn a lot from this game. If they want to make a run in the NCAA Tournament they can't afford to start as slow as they did. They also can't rely on the officials to make the correct calls at the end of the game either.

But even though this game didn't end in their favor, the fact they were able to fight all the way back and have a chance to win is spectacular. Hopefully that momentum, and the great regular season they had, will carry them into the Big Dance next week and see them make a deep run.
