A social media account has gone viral this offseason because they have been posting the most embarrassing loss for every SEC team in the College Football Playoff era. Georgia thankfully doesn't have that many to choose from, but there are a few games that immediately come to mind.
But the social media account chose the Bulldogs' 20-17 loss to South Carolina at home in 2019.

Georgia's most embarrassing loss prevented a chance in the College Football Playoff
This loss was embarrassing for multiple reasons. South Carolina finished with a 4-8 record that year, so there was no reason they should ever lose to that bad of a team. Losing to them at home makes it even worse.
But the CFP ramifications of this loss can't go unnoticed.
This was the only loss of the regular season for Georgia. They finished atop the SEC East standings with an 11-1 record and faced a Joe Burrow-led LSU team in the SEC Championship game which they ended up losing. This defeat kept them out of the playoff that year, but if they had beaten South Carolina they would've had a chance to make it in still.
Georgia's CFP resume isn't as good as people might think. Sure they won two straight National Championships, but outside of those years it hasn't been all that good. Just look at the last three years which has resulted in zero playoff wins.
Georgia could use as many chances as they can get to improve their CFP resume, so beating this South Carolina team could've given them another opportunity. They more than likely weren't going to beat that LSU team, but no one would've been upset to have another crack at them.
Georgia now looks ahead to the 2026 season where expectations are sky high. They are predicted to make the CFP again this year, so hopefully they can avoid a catastrophic loss like this so they don't miss out on the playoff this year.
