Georgia football is entering their College Football Playoff matchup as a considerable favorite over Ole Miss. Obviously they need to get by the Rebels first, but Georgia's goals are much greater than winning this one game. Georgia's ultimate goal is to win the National Championship, and Vegas believes they have the third best odds to do so.
Their odds of winning the title however have shifted drastically since the official bracket was released two weeks ago.
Vegas increases their confidence in Georgia ahead of their CFP matchup with Ole Miss
After the CFP bracket was finalized Georgia was given +550 odds to win a national title. These were the third best odds behind Ohio State and Indiana which was more than fair considering they are both seeded higher. Those odds however moved to +600 a few days later indicating that Vegas was losing confidence in Georgia.
However, now that the first round games are in the books Georgia's odds have shifted once again. This time they improved to +500 which is the highest they have been since the bracket was revealed on the FanDuel Sportsbook.
Ohio State still has the best odds at +180 and Indiana is second at +300.
While Vegas has increased their confidence in Georgia they still view them as a significant underdog to both Ohio State and Indiana. A win against Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl should increase Georgia's odds by a little bit, but since the Buckeyes could be waiting for UGA in the semifinals Vegas likely won't improve them too much. But if Georgia advances past the semis and into the championship game there is a great chance they would be the betting favorite.
But first thing's first, Georgia must beat Ole Miss. They are favored by a touchdown entering this matchup, but the Rebels have revenge on their mind and are more than capable of knocking off Georgia.
