Georgia's No. 1 commit across all of their recruiting classes is five-star quarterback Jayden Wade. He is the No. 1 QB in the 2028 recruiting class who has been committed to Georgia for a few months, and out of every commit this is the one that Kirby Smart needs to hold onto the most.
That however will not be easy as countless reports continue to indicate that other schools are still in hot pursuit.
Wade will always be Georgia's top option at quarterback, but everyone knows that it won't be easy to hold onto is commitment. So in order to prepare for the future Smart is working on an insurance policy just in case he ever decides to decommit from the program.

Georgia has found an insurance policy in 4-star QB Carter Zingelmann
Earlier this week Georgia offered four-star quarterback Carter Zingelmann who is the No. 4 quarterback in the 2028 recruiting class. He is someone that Georgia will not accept a commitment from as long as Wade is still committed, but in case he ever decommits, Zingelmann would be a great option to replace him with.
So far there really isn't a true indication that Wade is thinking about leaving Georgia. In fact, he has continued to reaffirm his pledge to Georgia even with all of these other schools still pursuing him. But Georgia has learned how fast a recruit can decide to leave (we're looking at you Jared Curtis), so it's wise to have a backup plan just in case.
Smart obviously hopes he won't ever have to use this backup plan, but he has learned in the past that anything is possible. That is especially the case when all of these rumors are flying around the top ranked quarterback in the country.
It remains to be seen what will happen with Wade, but Smart is making some wise decisions behind the scenes in case the worst case scenario unfolds.
