Georgia is facing a significant dilemma on offense at this point in their season. The Bulldogs have ample options at running back this season, but Kirby Smart and Mike Bobo might not be giving enough carries to the best running back in the group.
Georgia entered the season with Nate Frazier as their No. 1 option, and that is a title that he still holds to this day. But it may be time to push Chauncey Bowens up the depth chart and give him more carries than Frazier because he is having a much better season.
So far this season Bowens has more rushing yards and touchdowns than Frazier while also getting less carries than him. This makes it seem abundantly clear that Georgia should make Bowens their No. 1 option at running back and give him a few of Frazier's carries.
Georgia will have to sort this dilemma out, but this "problem" they have may be one of the reasons why their offense is one of the best in the country.
Georgia's RB dilemma is one of the strengths of their team
Georgia is very fortunate to have two running backs who are capable of being starters. Both Frazier and Bowens have shined in their roles this season and have proven they are more than good enough to be the leader out of the backfield. While that does make it difficult to decide who should get the most carries, this depth is a huge strength for Georgia.
The obvious reason why this is a positive is because they will still have a dominant running back they can turn to if Frazier or Bowens gets injured this season. On top of that, Georgia can shuffle both players in and out throughout the game to keep them both fresh late into every game.
So while Smart, Bobo and the rest of their staff figure out how to divvy up these carries, Georgia fans should be relieved that Bowens is pushing Frazier for the starting running back spot. This fact has made UGA's offense much better than anyone expected this season and brings a lot of hope for the future of Georgia's offense even after this season.
