Georgia was the No. 1 team in the country for one short week before Auburn upset them in Athens. This sent Georgia down the AP Poll where they now sit at No. 5.
The Bulldogs are still in position to have a good season, but their resume took a significant hit after this weekend. The biggest hit to their resume was because of their loss to Auburn, but their resume and potential for big wins later this season also suffered with the update to the AP Poll after what was a crazy weekend of college football.
Georgia's win vs Alabama doesn't look as good
Georgia's best win this season is their road victory at Alabama two weeks ago. That actually is the only good team they've beat so far this season, but that victory doesn't look as good anymore.
On Saturday Alabama lost to Tennessee on the road. The Vols are a good team this season, but Tennessee embarrassed them 26-10. This sent Alabama tumbling down the AP Poll to No. 13 after their second loss of the season.
Georgia's win over Alabama still looks good, but after the initially beat the Tide it looked like one of the best wins in the country. That however is no longer the case because Alabama lost to Tennessee.
Georgia's potential for a marquee win over Missouri no longer exists
Before this week Missouri was one of the hottest teams in the SEC. They just dominated Florida and Texas A&M in their last two games, but they lost to Ole Miss this weekend 31-3.
Georgia had an opportunity for a marquee win when they host Missouri later this season. This loss to Ole Miss changes that because now they are ranked No. 22 in the country. Georgia could still earn a ranked win when they play Missouri, but at this point it's more likely that the Tigers won't be ranked anymore.
Georgia does still have two other opportunities for a ranked win this season. In two weeks they play Florida who just jumped to No. 20 after beating Texas this weekend. UGA also travels to Ole Miss in three weeks to face the seventh-ranked Rebels whose lone loss is to Florida this season.
The Bulldogs still have a chance to earn one of the best resumes in the country, but their loss to Auburn combined with the defeats suffered by some teams on their schedule makes their resume look worse than it did one week ago.
