Georgia football has been working extremely hard in the transfer portal as they look to add some players at key positions. And so far it appears that finding a defensive lineman is extremely important for Kirby Smart and his staff this spring.
The Bulldogs have already been in contact with multiple defensive linemen that are in the portal, and they have even brought in one lineman on a visit in Alabama A&M transfer Sedrick Smith. This visit took place on Thursday and appears to have gone very well because the Bulldogs received a prediction on 247Sports to land a commitment from Smith.
However, everyone knows that a recruitment isn't over until a commitment is official, and a commitment from Smith has not occurred yet. This means that other teams have time to get involved and make a push for him, which is something that On3's Pete Nakos reported is already happening.
Alabama A&M DL Sedrick Smith is set to visit Georgia Tech, his agency @QCSports tells @SWiltfong_ and I.

Sedrick Smith visiting rival Georgia Tech
According to Nakos, Smith has scheduled a visit with Georgia Tech. This news really isn't all that surprising because Smith is origianlly from Atlanta, GA, so him taking a look at the two power four in-state schools was somewhat expected.
But this means that a recruitment that seemed like a lock to go Georgia's way no longer is as straight forward as it seemed. Sure Georgia should never be afraid of the Yellow Jackets on the recruiting trail because Georgia is the far better program who routinely beats them on the field and in recruiting, but no one ever knows what is going to happen with any individual recruit.
It likely won't be long until Georgia receives a final decision from Smith, but it's not the end of the world if things don't go UGA's way because the Bulldogs have been in contact with multiple other defensive linemen in the portal already.
