Georgia football entered the 2025 season with the second best odds to win the SEC. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Bulldogs had +300 odds to repeat as conference champions which only trailed No. 1 Texas who sat at +270.
But just one day into the college football season the Bulldogs find themselves on the rise with the best odds to win the SEC now.
Georgia is the new betting favorite to win the SEC
Georgia is fresh off a dominant 45-7 victory over Marshall on Saturday. While beating a team like Marshall is never something to write home about, the Bulldogs handled their business and won by a whopping 38 points. The same however can't be said for Texas.
The Longhorns traveled to No. 3 Ohio State and came up short. Texas only lost 14-7, but their offense was miserable and showed no signs off life throughout the entire game.
Vegas clearly was paying attention to these results as they quickly adjusted their odds for both teams to win the SEC. Georgia soared past Texas to become the new betting favorite at +260 while Texas slid back to +300. After the Longhorns there is a significant dropoff before finding LSU with the third best odds at +600. Alabama somehow has the fourth best odds +700 even after losing to Florida State and Texas A&M comes in with the fifth best odds at +1400.
While it is nice to see Georgia take over the top spot and be the new betting favorite to win the SEC, the season is only one week old. There are still plenty of challenges in front of UGA where they could stumble and fall short of winning the conference, so Georgia fans shouldn't put too much stock in these odds just yet.
But Georgia is right where they want to be at this point in the season, and hopefully they can continue having the best odds to win the conference throughout the entire season.
