Only former Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck accounted for more individual points in the last two seasons than kicker Peyton Woodring. The 2025 preseason All-SEC first team selection accounted for nearly 25 percent of all of Georgia’s points during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

As Georgia prepares for the eighth most difficult schedule in all of college football, special teams will play a vital role in key home games like Texas, Ole Miss, and Alabama. An unproven and young offense will need plenty of help to emerge victorious, and Woodring's scoring proficiency along with the electric potential of kick and punt returner Zachariah Branch will be a huge benefit to the offense.

Along with reliable punter Brett Thorson often pinning opponents inside their own 20-yard line, the Bulldogs' special team play will give UGA an edge in every game this season.

A lot of well-deserved hype and attention are focused on skill players like quarterback Gunner Stockton, running back Nate Frazier and tight end Oscar Delp to produce on the scoreboard, and they will hopefully rise to meet those expectations. But it’s Woodring's consistency that is the secret weapon Georgia can continue to rely on this season.

Peyton Woodring has perfect accuracy on PATs

Woodring has successfully kicked 119 PATs in a row, which is no small feat for a college kicker. On top of that, his 91.3 percent success on field goals makes Woodring a solid scoring machine for the Bulldogs. "Mr. Reliable" has shown he's accurate up to 55 yards on field goals as well, so if Georgia can move the ball into the opponents' territory they have a great chance to put up at least three points from that drive.

As the No. 1 ranked kicker coming out of high school, it is clear that Woodring has more than met expectations for Coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldog faithful.

With Georgia predicted to finish second in the SEC behind Texas, the special teams play and scoring of Woodring can turn the doubters into believers as Georgia looks to repeat as SEC Champions.
