When it comes to SEC football, there are two programs who reign supreme. The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide are the elite of the elite in the SEC, and every other program is doing their best to try and play catch up.

The past few years have seen Georgia pass the Tide in the SEC pecking order after winning multiple National Championships and the SEC title last season, but Alabama would love nothing more than to change that this season.

The top dog in the SEC will be decided later this fall, but Alabama is doing everything they can this weekend to get a leg up on Georgia. UGA has the No. 1 2026 recruiting class in the SEC right now, but the Tide are reportedly bringing in four elite recruits Georgia desperately wants on official visits this weekend, with three of those recruits coming from the state of Georgia as well.

Alabama’s attempt to end Georgia’s SEC supremacy begins this weekend

One of the four recruits visiting Alabama this weekend is four-star EDGE Khamari Brooks, who is the target visiting Alabama that Georgia has the best chance with. Brooks recruitment is reportedly down to Alabama and Georgia, and hopes are very high from Georgia’s camp after his official visit to Athens last weekend. A few other teams are still involved as well, but Brooks visit to Alabama this weekend could be the deciding factor in his recruitment.

Both Alabama and Georgia missed on the No. 1 tight end in the country Mark Bowman, so that makes fellow five-star Kaiden Prothro’s recruitment significantly increase in importance. Georgia has ramped up their recruitment of Prothro and appear to be the leader for him as well, but Alabama will attempt to change that this weekend.

The final two recruits are five-stars Jireh Edwards and Xavier Griffin. These are two more players Georgia would love to have in their class, but both appear to no longer have any interest in Georgia. Griffin cancelled his visit to Georgia a few weeks ago, and a recent development with Edwards indicates UGA might be out of the running for him as well. So the fact that both are visiting Alabama this weekend doesn’t change much, because neither seem like they will end up in Georgia’s class anyways.

Georgia is having their own massive recruiting event this weekend as well, but all eyes will also be on Alabama as they attempt to do some damage to Georgia on the recruiting trail.
