With the 2025 football season officially less than 100 days away, the biggest area of focus right now for all teams, especially Georgia, is recruiting for future classes. Kirby Smart has been doing plenty of that, and of course, there have been big wins and big losses. Reeling after the loss of 5-star OL Jackson Cantwell to Miami, Georgia is battling the Hurricanes along with three other schools for yet another top-ranked recruit.
Keshawn Stancil, a 4-star recruit out of North Carolina, has narrowed his final list of schools down to five: Miami, Penn State, NC State, Clemson, and Georgia. The standout defensive lineman has set official visits with four of his final five schools and has already taken his visit with the Bulldogs this past weekend.
Stancil also visited each school in the spring, further solidifying his choice in picking each one as his final five. NC State is obviously near the top of the list as an in-state school for Stancil, pushing the stay close to home angle for the young pass rusher. However, two schools are emerging as the top two candidates out of the five.
Georgia set to battle Miami for yet another top-ranked recruit
In an interview with On3, Stancil talked about how both Georgia and Miami made him feel wanted and special to each program, but they went about it in different ways. Stancil liked the culture that the hurricanes provide and the coaching staff they have in the building.
When it comes to Georgia, though, no one is better at developing defensive linemen, as the Bulldogs have provided a number of defensive players to the NFL in past years. When it comes to getting Stancil into the building, the coaching staff at Georgia certainly did something unique during his visit.
Stancil talked about how the coaches knew who he was and how great of a player he was, but the players he would be working with every single day didn't. So, the coaching staff sat down with Stancil and some Georgia players and showed the young pass-rushers film and allowed the players to give feedback, both good and constructive. This was something that really stood out to the NC native.
"I like constructive criticism, so if you can tell me that, we’ve got a good relationship off the bat," Stancil said.
The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman is ranked as the No. 143 prospect in the Class of 2026 and the No. 15 defensive lineman in the class, according to On3's Industry Rankings. There is no deadline as to when Stancil will make his commitment at this time.
